Quinta do Ameal releases a new vintage of Solo Único 27/07/2023
With unmatched aromatic complexity, intensity and character, Ameal Solo Único 2022 has arrived, not only in time to embrace summer but also promising to age and evolve elegantly over the next 15 years.
Ameal Solo Único is named after a special plot at Quinta do Ameal, the Marejão vineyard. Though this vineyard's markedly barren soils result in particularly low berry yields per hectare, this translates into grapes of far greater richness and concentration. “The Marejão vineyard confers an intense and highly distinctive character on its wines, as Ameal Solo Único 2022 comes once again to demonstrate,” says Lourenço Charters, Quinta do Ameal's viticulture and winemaking manager.
Fifteen days' of fermentation took place in concrete, roughly 20% in eggs, and 80% in rectangular vats. This was followed by another eight months' ageing on lees in those self-same vessels.
The resulting wine is distinctive for its tremendous aromatic complexity, marked by the citrus fruits so typical of the grape variety, and by the wine's intensity and character.
