Farm to table hands-on: Four hands for open fire cooking at the Herdade do Esporão Restaurant

Starting in September, the Herdade do Esporão restaurant will be offering three exclusive gastronomic experiences in a new dedicated space for slow cooking on fire. Outside, by the vegetable garden and with a view overlooking the vineyards, chef Carlos de Albuquerque will welcome three chefs from different regions in Portugal. They all share an appreciation for local, Portuguese, and seasonal products, which will be the theme for each dinner. The menu for the Mãos à Horta (Hands-On) dinners is a surprise, prepared by four hands and served at sunset.

The dinners will be comprised of seven moments, created based on each chef’s different approach, using products from the Herdade do Esporão kitchen garden. Sommeliers will be at the occasion to pair the best Esporão wines for each dish, harmonizing the flavors.

The first dinner will take place on September 5th and the guest chef will be Rui Sequeira, from Alameda Restaurante in Faro, who will bring a touch of the Algarve to central Alentejo. On September 12th, it will be time for chef André Lança Cordeiro, from Essencial, in Lisbon, to bring contemporaneity and his French-inspired cuisine to the menu. These special dinners end on October 3rd with chef Nuno Castro, from Fava Tonka in Porto, who will share his vegetarian cuisine with us.
