Assobio white and rosé 2022 wines are now on the market. They promise a fresher view of the Douro, with great liveliness, elegance and a wide range of food pairings.
Near the Quinta dos Murças boundary, steep slopes form a valley. Mostly north-facing, it is sheltered from the sun, and, when the wind blows, you can hear it whistle through the vineyards. It is from vines identical to those planted here, from plots with unique characteristics that the Assobio white and rosé wines come.
The higher elevation of this vineyard lends a characteristic freshness to Assobio wines, as is evident here, with the 2022 edition of whites and rosés, with all their customary liveliness and elegance. In the words of viticulture and winemaking manager Lourenço Charters, “Assobio white maintains the fresh and elegant profile of previous releases, revealing the character and identity of the Douro grapes.” Assobio rosé was harvested earlier than usual in 2022, due to unusually hot and dry weather, “which gave rise to a wine of greater vivacity and energy”. These are two versatile wines that pair wonderfully with fine foods and express a more refreshing perspective on the Douro.
