Quinta dos Murças Reserva 2017: new image and great ageing potential 26/07/2023
Quinta dos Murças Reserva 2017 is introducing a new image. After six years' ageing, this wine is elegant, firm and concentrated, with great ageing potential.
Quinta dos Murças Reserva 2017 is a Douro classic. It comes from 40+ year-old vertical vines growing at altitudes ranging from 150 to 280 meters, mostly with western exposure, in field blend vineyards with Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Sousão predominating. Vinified in granite lagares with food treading and spontaneous fermentation, the wine aged for 18 months in used French oak barrels. After another five years in the bottle, it is now released at its peak potential.
“It's a pleasure to take part in a project like Quinta dos Murças, which respects nature, the balance of the vineyard, and each wine's particular pace. This Quinta dos Murças Reserva 2017, by José Luís Moreira da Silva, waited six years to be released now at the ideal moment,” says Lourenço Charters, Quinta dos Murças’s Viticulture and Winemaking Manager.
The new image aims to mirror the simplicity and authenticity of Quinta dos Murças, reinforcing its brand identity. In partnership with Studio Eduardo Aires, a modern yet sober design was created, minimalist and disruptive, and inspired by the people who craft this wine. Parameters such as altitude, vineyard area, and vine age have been placed next to the wine's name to showcase its origin. The back label comes to life with João Abel Mota's charcoal drawings of Quinta the Murças Reserva vineyards.
