Esporão Colheita featured in Wine Spectator and considered a Smart Buy 07/02/2018
The first organic wine by Herdade do Esporão (Alentejo), launched just last year, features on the cover of the Wine Spectator magazine.
“Right now, think of how unlikely it would have been some years ago to believe that we would have our own organic wine, made from 100% Herdade do Esporão grapes, vinified in concrete tulip-shaped tanks in a winery made of earth, without ageing in wood and with a label that expresses our soils, on the cover of what is (probably) the most important wine magazine in the world. But we did it. Due to our drive and will to innovate and do our best as a team”, states João Roquette, CEO of Esporão.
In the February edition, we were also the only Portuguese producer featured as one of the sixty winemakers in the world to visit, due to their excellence and good quality–price ratio.
The publication’s tasting note highlights: “The refreshing currant, red plum and boysendberry fruit in this charming red is balanced by
white pepper, underbrush and zesty accents. Mineral details and tangy acidity round out the lightly tannic finish.“
There are also two other wines from this region on the list of Smart Buys: Monte Velho White 2016 and Esporão Reserva Red 2014.
