Ameal Loureiro 2022 once again showcases this grape's ability to produce white wines of excellence with tremendous ageing potential.This intense, well-balanced white wine offers the liveliest expression of the grape and the Ameal estate.
In the birthplace of the Loureiro grape, the Lima Valley, with granite soils, its own particular climate and agricultural practices reflecting a deep respect for nature, Quinta do Ameal is a 30-hectare estate, fourteen of which are Loureiro vineyards. It stretches 800 metres along the Lima River with roughly eight hectares of diverse virgin forests including walnut, chestnut and stone pine.
2022 was a dry and extremely hot year. September rains helped to finish off the ripening, yielding an excellent balance of fruit and acidity.
Hand-harvesting was followed by controlled-temperature (16ºC-18ºC) fermentation in stainless steel vats for 12 to 15 days. After a further seven months' ageing on fine lees in stainless steel vats, Ameal Loureiro 2022 was ready to be tasted. It will continue to evolve for at least another 15 years.
